WBJEE Eligibility Criteria 2020

In order to participate in WBJEE 2020 examination, candidates must first fulfil the eligibility criteria only then they can apply for the exam on the official website online. Eligibility criteria differs from course to course. And there are many criteria that needs to be checked, failing to fulfil the eligibility criteria will lead to rejection of application form. Criteria for eligibility includes Age, Nationality, qualifying marks (course specific), qualifying exams. Specific eligibility criteria for particular universities. Only eligible candidate’s application forms will be accepted. Hence, the candidates are requested to go through the below article thoroughly before applying for the exam.

Domicile requirement will be different for the various participating institutes.

WBJEE 2020 Eligibility criteria

Citizenship: Candidate must be a citizen of India.

Age:

Lower age limit - The candidate must be of 17 years as on 31st December 2020. A candidate should have been born on or before 31st December 2003.

Upper age limit - For Marine Engineering Course the lower age limit is 17 years as on 31st December 2020 and the upper age limit is 25 Years as on 31st December 2020.

There is no upper age limit for others courses.

Qualifying examination

  • For Engineering course: Candidate must have passed ‘10+2’ examination by a recognised board (Central government or State government).

  • Subjects: Physics and Mathematics along with any one of these subjects (Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science / Computer Application) as compulsory subjects with individual pass marks in (both theory and practical wherever applicable) all the three subjects as stated above in regular class mode.

  • Qualifying Marks: Candidates must have obtained at least 45% marks and 40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category i.e., SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD in the above mentioned three subjects (qualifying exam) taken together. Must have passed English in the ‘10+2’ examination with at least 30% marks.

  • For Pharmacy course: Candidate must have passed ‘10+2’ examination with by a recognised board (Central government or State government).

  • Subjects: Physics and Chemistry along with any one of these subjects (Mathematics / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science / Computer Application) as compulsory subjects with individual pass marks (in both theory and practical wherever applicable) in all the three subjects in regular class mode.

  • Qualifying Marks: Candidates must have obtained at least 45% marks and 40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category i.e., SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD in the above mentioned three subjects (qualifying exam) taken together. Must have passed English in the ‘10+2’ examination with at least 30% marks.

Note

The Board of the Qualifying Examination must be recognized by the Central Government or the concerned State Government and candidates having 10+2 education from non-formal and non-class rooms based education such as National Institute of Open Schooling, open school systems etc., are not eligible for B.Pharm course.

Another important consideration for academic qualification

A candidate appearing in 10 + 2 exam (qualifying exam) may take up WBJEE 2020 exam too but shall not be eligible for seat allotment if he/she does not pass the qualifying exam.

  • WBJEE neither verify the information provided by the candidate during on line application nor verify any certificate (date of birth, domicile, income, reservation category, academic qualification etc., ) for deciding the eligibility of the candidate.

  • Admit cards will be issued only on the basis of the information candidate has provided. Also, there is no scope of changing/correcting any information after the last date of online application.

  • All verifications are done during counselling and subsequent admission and registration with the university.

  • If at any stage after examination it is found on scrutiny that the applicant is otherwise ineligible, his/her candidature shall be treated as cancelled even if he/she secured a Merit Rank in the WBJEE and/or a seat has been allotted to the candidate.
