WBJEE Cutoff 2019

WBJEE Cutoff 2019 will be released after the result declaration. And Cut off encloses opening and closing rank to determine the eligibility of the candidate to gain admission. It is the minimum marks that has to be secured by the candidates in order to be eligible for Counselling and Admission. The qualified candidates can then participate in further rounds and secure admission in Universities, Self Financed Institutions and Government colleges/Institutes. Each participating college will release separate cut off list for different courses. Candidates who meet the cut off conditions will be mentioned in Merit list.

Factors Influencing WBJEE Cut off

  1. Number of candidates applied
  2. Number of candidates appeared in the exam
  3. Number of seats available
  4. Difficulty level of the exam
  5. Previous year cut off trends

Types of WBJEE Cut off

Category-wise cut off:WBJEE releases branch-wise and category-wise cut off. The ranks will be released in the form of Opening and Closing ranks after the declaration of result. It is to be noted that the cut offs vary for each category and every participating college.

Qualifying Cut off:The minimum marks required for passing the entrance examination. Students clearing WBJEE cut off will be included in GMR.

Admission Cut off:Based on WBJEE qualifying marks and merit as on GMR, admission rounds will be carried out in participating institutes. The institutes releases branch-wise and category-wise WBJEE Opening and Closing Ranks.

Calculation of WBJEE Cutoff Scores

The cut off is determined in 2 steps-

Calculation of Scores

The scores are calculated by adding the total number of correct answers and subtracting the incorrect answers. The calculation of scores varies for each category defined under WBJEE Exam Pattern.

Category 1

  1. Only 1 option is correct.
  2. Each question carries 1 mark.
  3. ¼ marks will be deducted on marking incorrect response.

Category 2

  1. Only 1 option is correct.
  2. Each question carries 2 marks.
  3. ½ marks will be deducted on marking incorrect response.

Category 3

  1. 1 or more options may be correct.
  2. Only all correct response will fetch 2 marks.
  3. Combination of correct and incorrect response will be treated incorrect.
  4. Partially correct answer: total marks = 2 X (no. of correct options/total no. of correct options)

Publication of GMR

Based on the above criteria, marks obtained in WBJEE 2019, the board publishes two merit lists- General Merit Rank List (GMR) and Pharmacy Merit Rank List (PMR). Only those students who have appeared in both the papers, will be considered for merit ranking.

For admission in B.Tech and B.Arch courses, only GMR is taken into consideration. The rank list is prepared in descending order of total marks obtained in WBJEE 2019.

Two separate WBJEE Merit list will be prepared based on papers: General Merit Rank (GMR) and Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR)
