JEE Advanced Seat Allotment 2019

Seat Allotment for JEE Advanced 2019 will be based on All India Rank (AIR) secured by the candidates in JEE Advanced and the choices filled by them during choice filling and locking. JoSAA will conduct counselling for JEE Main and JEE Advanced to provide admission in IITs, NITs, IIITs and other Govt. Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) Allocation of seats will be made after the counselling process starts. Detailed instructions and procedures of JEE Advanced Counselling and Seat allotment will be available on JOSAA website. The list of courses that are available in the IITs for admission for the academic year 2019-20 will be available at the time of online filling-in of choices. JEE Advanced Counselling started on 16th June 2019. Seat allotment for qualified students has been divided into 3 categories:

  1. On the basis of Date of Birth (DOB)
  2. Nationality
  3. Percentage of disability

Result for 7th Round Seat Allotment has been released. The closing and opening ranks PDF for all the rounds so far is given in the table below. Candidates can go to JoSAA website and click on View Seat Allotment Result of Round 7 to check the allotment status.

The results for all the 7 rounds of counselling and seat allotment has been released. Document verification and seat acceptance for IITs will start from 19th July 2019.

Submit Withdrawal Request

Results for 1st round seat allotment has been announced and if candidates who has been allotted seats want to withdraw, they can do so by visiting the link – Submit Seat Withdrawal Request on the JoSAA website.

Partitioning of Candidates

With respect to Seat Allocation, qualified candidates are partitioned into different categories, presence or absence of disability and nationality. On the basis of category, candidates are partitioned as – GEN, GEN-EWS, GEN-PwD, OBC-NCL, OBC-NCL-PwD, SC, SC-PwD, ST, ST-PwD, Foreign.
Apart from category, candidates are also assigned a state code of eligibility while allocating seats for NITs, IIEST and Other – GFTIs.

Seat allotment status JEE Advanced 2019

  1. Log in using the Registration No (User ID), JEE Advanced 2019 Roll No and Password to check seat allotment status.
  2. Candidates securing higher rank in their respective categories will be allotted seats accordingly.
  3. The soft copy of the category (SC/ST/OBC-NCL) certificates uploaded at the time of online registration will be scrutinized against originals during seat allocation, and if the certificates uploaded are found to be inappropriate, the student will be treated as General only, if their score in the Paper-1 of JEE Main is above the cutoff score for General category.

Seat Allocation for DS Candidates

  • 2 supernumerary seats are preferentially allocated in every Institute for candidates who qualify under the DS category.
  • A DS candidate must be in the CRL to be eligible for preferential allocation under the DS category.
  • Candidates who are eligible for seat allocation under the DS category will also be considered under their category[viz., GEN, GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, GEN-PwD, GEN-EWS-PwD, OBC-NCL-PwD, SC-PwD and ST-PwD].

Seat Allocation for Candidates with Foreign tag

  • Foreign tag candidates should be in the CRL and satisfy all the eligibility requirements meant for a GEN category candidate in order to be considered for seat allocation.
  • Seat allotment for foreign tag candidates will be commenced only after the seat allotment of all Indian national candidates is completed.
  • A seat in an academic program will be allotted to a foreign tag candidate if his/her rank is the same or better than the closing rank of the GEN category candidate in that academic program.
  • Foreign tag students will be allotted supernumerary seats.
  • The total number of supernumerary seat allotted in each IIT, including those allotted to foreign tag candidates,is limited to 10% of the total number of seats of the respective IIT.

Seat Allocation to Preparatory courses

The following business rules for seat allocation to preparatory courses will be applicable for every round of seat allocation.

  1. Unfilled OPEN-PwD seats will be allocated to candidates in the CRL-PwD preparatory rank list provided no more candidates in the CRL-PwD rank list have opted for it.

  2. Unfilled GEN-EWS-PwD seats will be allocated to candidates in the GEN-EWS-PwD preparatory rank list provided no more candidates in the GEN-EWS-PwD rank list have opted for it.

  3. Unfilled OBC-NCL-PwD seats will be allocated to candidates in the OBC-NCL-PwD preparatory rank list provided no more candidates in the OBC-NCL-PwD rank list have opted for it.

  4. Unfilled SC-PwD seats will be allocated to candidates in the SC-PwD preparatory rank list provided no more candidates in the SC-PwD rank list have opted for it.

  5. Unfilled ST-PwD seats will be allocated to candidates in the ST-PwD preparatory rank list provided no more candidates in the ST-PwD rank list have opted for it.

  6. Unfilled SC seats will be allocated to candidates in the SC preparatory rank list provided no more candidates in the SC rank list have opted for it.

  7. Unfilled ST seats will be allocated to candidates in the ST preparatory rank list provided no more candidates in the ST rank list have opted for it.

Reporting to Allotted colleges

  1. Candidates must report to the Zonal IIT after the seats are allotted to them.
  2. Verify their documents and pay the required admission fee.

Seat Allotment Procedure

Step 1 – Online Registration
Candidates will have to register on JoSAA website in online mode by entering roll number and password in order to participate in JEE Main 2019 counselling and seat allotment rounds.
Step 2 - Online Choice Filling & Locking
Candidates must fill and lock the choices in order of the preference of colleges and B.E/B.Tech programmes. Seat allotment will be done based on the choices entered.
Step 3 – Seat Allotment
Seat allotment is done based on the availability of seats, merit and preference entered by the candidates. After which two mock allotment rounds will carried out to help the candidates familiarize with the process.
Step 4 – Payment of Fee & Seat Acceptance

Once the seat is allotted, candidates will have to choose any one of the following options :

  1. Freeze– If candidates are satisfied with seat allotted to them and do not wish to participate in further rounds, they will have to choose this option.
  2. Float– In case, candidates need to keep the seat allotted and also wish to upgrade their seat, they must follow this option.
  3. Slide– If candidates accept the seat allotted and wish to upgrade the course in the same institute, they will have to stick to this option.
  4. Withdraw–If candidates have already accepted the seat, they can withdraw the seat by reporting at the institute allotted before the last round of seat allotment.

To confirm the seat, candidates will have to pay the fees through SBI Net Banking or e-Challan.

Step 5 – Verification of Documents

The following documents need to be produced at the time of verification:

  1. 3 passport size photographs (the same as uploaded during registration)
  2. Provisional JoSAA seat allotment letter
  3. Photo identity card
  4. Proof of seat acceptance fee payment
  5. JEE Main 2019 Admit Card
  6. Date of birth proof
  7. JEE Main 2019 Score Card
  8. Class XII Mark sheet
  9. Category certificate (if applicable)
Step 6 – Final Reporting at the Allotted Institute
Once verification is done, candidates will have to report at the allotted institute and pay the balance fees in the institute, confirm the admission.

Mode to remit seat acceptance fee :(e-challan of SBI or SBI Net Banking or SBI Debit card)

The candidate should remit the seat acceptance fee and report at a reporting centre for document verification before the last date/time specified, failing to report will be considered as if the candidate has rejected the offer. Seat confirmation will be done by the reporting centre after the verification of original documents and ensuring that the candidate meets all the eligibility norms.

Candidates who want to reject the allocated seat can do so as follows:

  • By NOT remitting the seat acceptance fee [and hence, not report at the reporting centre]
  • If the seat acceptance fee has already been remitted, by not reporting at the Reporting Centre. Seat acceptance fee will be refunded to such candidates.
Note :

Candidates who reject allocated seat cannot participate any more in Joint Seat Allocation for the ensuing academic year 2019-20

Eligibility to appear in JEE(ADVANCED) in subsequent years

  • Candidates who reject their seat during the first 6 rounds or withdraw from allocated seat, by completing all formalities specified herein, can appear for JEE (Advanced) 2020 provided they meet all other eligibility requirements.

  • Candidates who accept the allocated seat in any IIT by reporting at the admitting institute or a reporting centre but later do not withdraw seat, irrespective of whether they attend classes or not, become ineligible for JEE (Advanced)in subsequent years.

  • Candidates whose admission is cancelled after being admitted to the admitting institute, for any reason whatsoever, become ineligible to appear to JEE (Advanced) in subsequent years.

  • The candidates who paid seat acceptance fee in 2019 but had their seat cancelled (for whatever reason) before the last round of seat allotment for IITs, during the joint seat allocation in 2019, are eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2020, provided the candidate also fulfils all other eligibility criteria as would be laid down in eligibility conditions for JEE (Advanced) 2020.

  • Candidates who produce forged documents or indulge in acts of cheating are debarred from appearing in JEE (Advanced) next [and subsequent] year(s).

  • Candidates who are admitted to a preparatory course in any of the IITs in the academic year 2019-20for the first time can appear in JEE (Advanced) 2020 provided they meet all the other eligibility requirements.

The candidates must bring a set of Original documents given below along with a set of self-attested photocopies for seat acceptance. And the documents must be arranged in the given order. Once the verification is completed, the reporting centre will retain the photocopies and return the original documents.
